Embracing the Elements: A Rainy Engagement at Denver Botanic Gardens
There’s something undeniably romantic about a gentle drizzle, lush greenery, and the promise of a lifetime of growing together. For Preston and Emily, a couple whose love for plants is only surpassed by their love for each other, the Denver Botanic Gardens provided the perfect backdrop for their engagement session. Despite, or perhaps because of, the rain, their photoshoot turned into an enchanting celebration of this season of their lives. Why Choose Denver Botanic Gardens for Your Engagement Photos?
Nestled in the heart of the city, the Denver Botanic Gardens offers a verdant oasis that feels worlds away from urban hustle. The gardens are not only a sanctuary for plant life but also for lovebirds seeking a picturesque setting for their engagement photos. With its expansive collections of native and exotic flora, every corner of the gardens presents a new opportunity for stunning visuals. It was important to Preston and Emily to have a variety in their gallery and the Gardens was the perfect location for this request!
How the Weather Adds to the Charm
While some might shy away from the idea of a rainy photo session, Preston and Emily embraced it wholeheartedly. The rain brought with it a quiet intimacy, making their session deeply personal and uniquely beautiful. Under transparent umbrellas, they strolled through the misty paths, their smiles as bright as the flowers around them. The wet stones and lush greenery of the gardens served as the perfect canvas, highlighting their connection and the joy of the moment. This whimsical weather did not dampen their spirits but instead, emphasized the couple’s adventurous spirit and readiness to embark on life’s journey, no matter the weather.
Tips for Couples Considering a Denver Botanic Gardens Engagement Shoot
- Embrace the Unexpected and Be Prepared: Like Preston and Emily, view the weather as a unique element that can add to your photos’ romantic and ethereal quality. Being a mostly outdoor attraction, you are at the mercy of the weather so check the forecast and bring any layers or umbrellas you may need. There are indoor sections of the gardens to escape to if you need a break from the elements, but the main attractions are outdoors!
- Go on a weekday at opening or before closing: The Botanic Gardens is always open to the public, so you will have to navigate any crowds during your session. Everyone is always friendly and courteous, but I recommend avoiding peak visiting hours for a more private session.
- Secure Your Photography Permit: Make sure your photographer has applied for a Photography Permit through the Denver Botanic Gardens at least 7 days before your session, but no more than 1 month prior. The permit is $100 for a single session and includes 2 hours of shooting time. Your photographer will submit a form via email to the Gardens and payment upon check in. You must all check in together as the permit covers your entrance fees! You can read more about the Denver Botanic Gardens Photography Permit here.
