There’s something extra special about documenting the love story of friends—especially when it happens to involve golden hour in the Colorado foothills, intentional details, and a film camera in hand. Amber and Jack’s Fort Collins film photography engagement session was thoughtful, personal, and full of joy. From sipping lattes at Feel Love Coffee in downtown Loveland to running through sun-soaked fields, this day felt like a page out of a storybook. As a Colorado film and digital wedding photographer, it’s moments like these that remind me just how deeply meaningful photography truly is.

As an extra special bonus, I got to capture their session alongside my very best friend who shot digital while I focused on film! In this blog, I’m sharing all my favorite film shots I captured!

Downtown Loveland Coffee Shop Engagement Photos

We started Amber and Jack’s engagement session at Feel Love Coffee in downtown Loveland. The cozy, intimate vibe set the tone perfectly—unstoppable laughter over lattes, sun streaming through the windows, and that soft, romantic feel only film can truly capture. These two got so lost in conversation they genuinely forgot they were on camera. They just existed in their own little world, and I got to document it.

Fort Collins Foothills Picnic Engagement Session

Next stop? The foothills of Fort Collins. This is where it got even more magical than it already was. Amber and Jack set up a picnic with Scrabble, their favorite books, cozy blankets, and even brought their record player—items they actually bring on their picnic dates. They brought their favorite mugs and a Polaroid camera to take photos of each other, not just for the session but for memory’s sake. As the sun started to dip, they danced, literally chased the sunset, and watched the light disappear behind the mountains as they cuddled and reflected on this season of life.

A Colorado Film Photographer’s Dream Engagement Session

I got to capture this engagement session entirely on film. From the beloved Kodak tones to rich shadows and delicate highlights, every image tells a deeper story. Film brings a slowness and intentionality to photography that matched Amber and Jack’s personalities perfectly. It’s not about snapping hundreds of frames—it’s about waiting for the right ones. And these two? They made it effortless and so dang fun.

Looking Ahead to Their Wedding at the Lyons Farmette

Amber and Jack will be tying the knot this summer at the Lyons Farmette, and this time I get to be there as a guest! Watching this love story unfold from behind the camera has been such a gift—and getting to celebrate alongside them on the dance floor soon? Even sweeter.

Northern Colorado Engagement Photographer

Whether it’s downtown Loveland coffee shop corners, wide-open foothills in Fort Collins, or a golden hour that’ll leave you breathless, this session is a testament to just how powerful and intentional photography can be.
