Outdoor colorado wedding ceremony at the Lyons farmette, a flower farm wedding venue

If you’ve been searching for a flower farm wedding venue in Colorado, I’m going to go ahead and save you some time: put Lyons Farmette at the top of your list.

Located in Lyons, Colorado, just outside Boulder, the Farmette is a four-acre property tucked into the foothills with a vibrant flower farm, cottonwood trees, a stream running through the property, manicured gardens, and a modern reception barn. It’s colorful, cozy, a little quirky, and incredibly charming.

But honestly, I think the best way to describe a Lyons Farmette wedding is that it feels like an elevated backyard wedding! Except your backyard happens to have a flower farm, string lights, some farm animals, and a really cute Airstream and green vintage truck.

Lyons Farmette Wedding Venue in Colorado

The Farmette is one of my favorite outdoor Colorado wedding venues because it is effortlessly beautiful just as it is. Plus, there is plenty of space on the property so you and your guests can roam and enjoy the flowers, animals, and stream. It feels like inviting everyone out to your grandparents’ property that you love dearly and grew up on!

Being tucked behind the trees, Lyons Farmette feels intimate and private, even though you’re only about 20 minutes from Boulder. The Farmette currently can accommodate up to 125 guests, so it works especially well for couples who are wanting to keep things on the smaller-medium size for their day.

And there is something I really love about the couples who typically choose this venue. They usually aren’t looking for a ballroom or overly formal wedding, but rather, they’re looking to host an elevated outdoor dinner party.

Couples who get married at the Farmette want everyone they love sitting around a table laughing and enjoying a good meal together. They want to actually spend time with their guests and hug everyone there. They want the day to feel relaxed and intimate and a like a really, really beautiful version of a backyard party.

If that sounds like you, I think you’ll immediately fall in love when you see the Farmette for yourself.

A Flower Farm Wedding Venue in Colorado

The Lyons Farmette flower farm is probably the first thing you’ll notice when you start looking through photos of this venue, and it’s my favorite part of the venue!

The Farmette grows flowers right on the property, and the field becomes everyone’s favorite place for portraits when everything is in bloom. The colors are so rich and vibrant, especially during the summer and fall growing season. And while the flower field is an obvious spot for couples portraits, the entire property photographs beautifully. There’s not a bad angle here.

So if you’re searching for a garden wedding venue in Colorado, I sincerely hope you give The Farmette a look! And no, they are not sponsoring this post or paying me to say this, or anything else. I just fell in love with this venue when I got to photograph here and want everyone to know about it!

What Is a Lyons Farmette Wedding Like?

The ceremony is typically held outside beneath the large tree, surrounded by the greenery of the property. Then, you have the rest of the Farmette to explore for portraits, cocktail hour, and dinner. Typically cocktail hour and dinner take place on the lawn next to the ceremony site.

The property includes a modern wood barn for dancing, a large lawn area, the flower farm, two getting-ready spaces, and plenty of outdoor gathering areas. The barn is also heated and air conditioned, which is a nice thing to have when you’re planning an outdoor wedding in Colorado and would rather not leave your weather plan entirely up to Mother Nature.

The barn can accommodate up to 125 guests and gives you a comfortable indoor space for dinner and dancing while still keeping the overall feeling of the wedding connected to the outdoors. You don’t have to choose between a beautiful outdoor wedding and functional reception space—you have access to both.

Getting Ready at Lyons Farmette

The getting-ready spaces at Lyons Farmette are very cute. That’s the best way to describe them!

There is a farmhouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a vintage Airstream dressing suite with its own restroom and outdoor pergola. The farmhouse is cozy and homey, while the Airstream is just… fun and a little funky.

And because both spaces are right there at the venue, you don’t have to spend the morning driving around to different locations before the wedding even begins. You can get ready, have a mimosa or cup of coffee with your people, put on your dress or suit, and then step right outside into the Farmette.

When Is the Best Time to Get Married at Lyons Farmette?

If colorful flowers and green grass are high on your list, I’d recommend summer and fall. This is when the property is especially lush and colorful, and the flower fields really become the star of the show. I’ve attended a wedding at The Farmette at the beginning of August in 2025 and photographed the wedding featured in this blog at the end of August 2026, and the flowers were in full bloom both times!

From a photography (and comfort) perspective though, I’d recommend carefully choosing your ceremony time. If you have the flexibility, I’d opt for an afternoon or evening ceremony at Lyons Farmette rather than having the ceremony right in the middle of peak Colorado sun in the morning or at lunch time. The light is much softer later in the day, and you and your guests are much more likely to enjoy (and see) the moment!

Lyons Farmette Wedding Photographer

I’m Logan Ferree, the photographer behind Mrs. Ferree Photography, and I’m a Colorado wedding photographer offering a mix of digital and film photography!

I absolutely love working at beautiful Colorado wedding venues like the Farmette, but I don’t think your wedding photos should just be a collection of pretty pictures of a pretty venue. I want you to remember what it felt like to be there. Jumping for joy during your first look. Your friends toasting around the dinner table. Your mom crying during your vows. When you and your guests had to make a mad dash for the umbrellas and dance in the rain. The moments that you actually lived.

I’ll help with all of your portraits and give you direction when needed, but I’m there to let YOUR day happen your way. My goal is for your photographs to feel alive, candid, and natural—not like you spent your entire wedding day posing for them.

If you’re planning a Lyons Farmette wedding and you’re looking for a photographer who cares just as much about the experience as the actual photographs, I’d love to hear from you.
