Jacquelyn & Joe had a beautiful summer wildflower wedding day in the Colorado mountains at Windy Point Campground. From the moment I met Jaq and Joe, I knew their wedding was going to be something special. These two were simply amazing to work with, and their love for each other and their friends and family was evident in every detail of their day.

Jaq and Joe had a vision for a relaxed, genuine, and incredibly fun mountain wedding, and I believe we made it happen! I’m excited to share more about this Windy Point Campground wedding!

Getting Ready at the Airbnb in Dillon, CO

Their wedding day began at a cozy Airbnb near their wedding location in Dillon, CO. Jaq got ready with her mom and bridesmaids, as well as with one of their pups. Joe and the groomsmen got ready separately with their other pup. The getting ready process is always such a fun time filled with anticipation and so much love from the wedding party!

First Looks in a Meadow

After getting ready, I took Jaq to the meadow, where she first had a first look with her dad, followed by a first look with Joe. The meadow was such a beautiful, and secluded, spot for the first looks, being surrounded by the open fields and majestic Colorado mountains. These moments were full of emotion, and I’m honored I was there to witness them!

Including Your Dogs in Your Wedding

Jaq and Joe wanted to include their dogs on their wedding day, and Windy Point Campground is a dog-friendly location! Each pup accompanied Jaq and Joe as they got ready. They also walked down the aisle for the ceremony and joined them for the family pictures (of course!), as well as on the dance floor at the end of the night. They really were the life of the party!

So, if you’d like to include your dogs in your Colorado wedding – Windy Point Campground could be the spot for you, too!

Planning a Windy Point Campground Wedding

Jaq and Joe wanted a mountain wedding in Colorado, so they got married at Windy Point Campground. They reserved both venue options: the Forest Loop for their ceremony and the Lake Loop for the reception. The venues can accommodate up to 100 people, so it’s great for intimate and slightly larger weddings.

This is a very affordable mountain venue (just over $500 for both Loops), and it is very accessible to many amenities and activities for guests. If you’d like to get married here as well, note that Windy Point is only available between May 18th to September 30th each year. You can make your reservation here up to 6 months in advance.

I’d really recommend considering Windy Point Campground for your Colorado wedding so you can save a bit on the venue and get to splurge on other aspects, like your photographer! 😉

Windy Point Campground Wedding Ceremony at the Forest Loop

Jaq & Joe chose the Forest Loop for their ceremony, surrounded by towering trees and overlooking the lake and mountains. Her dad walked Jaq down the ‘aisle’ and these are the moments that never leave a dry eye. I love seeing love in the groom’s eyes as he sees his bride walking towards him. The couple exchanged heartfelt, personal vows, followed by portraits with all of their loved ones.

Windy Point Campground Wedding Reception at the Lake Loop

Following the ceremony, guests moved to the Lake Loop by Lake Dillon for the reception. The reception was so lively, with the couple dancing their hearts out with their guests and pups. It also featured a fun blow-up couch and a little cake smash. During the reception, we snuck away to Sapphire Point Overlook so the couple could enjoy some alone time and get some dreamy golden hour photos.

Golden Hour Wedding Photos at Sapphire Point Overlook

For their golden hour photos, we drove to Sapphire Point Overlook, just a 10-minute drive from Windy Point Campground. The overlook offered stunning views and the perfect setting for those extraordinary sunset shots. One of Jaq’s bridesmaids surprised her with a custom black leather jacket, and it looked so cool and edgy during their session.

On the way back, Jaq requested to pull over on the side of the road in a field of wildflowers and those are now my favorite photos from their wedding day. These kinds of fun, spontaneous moments are what your big day should be about! They allow you to truly enjoy your day, and me to capture all those candid moments!

Tips for Your Windy Point Campground Wedding

If you’ve been planning to get married at the Windy Point Campground as well, here are some suggestions to help you make your day perfect:

  • Make time for golden hour photos at Sapphire Point Overlook! The views there are stunning, and it’s only a 10-minute drive from Windy Point. I always recommend this combination to my couples.
  • Rent both the Forest and Lake Loop, so you’ll have access to a covered pavilion. It’s always good to have a backup plan if you’re planning to celebrate your love outdoors!
  • Prepare for the weather with heaters for cooler months and fans for hot summer days. Bring water, sunscreen, blankets, and jackets for when it cools down after dark.
  • Be mindful of the local wildlife as they are active in this area.
  • Hire a Wedding Pet Attendant to provide the best care for your pups while you say your vows and party under the pavilion!

Jaq & Joe’s Colorado Wedding Package

Working with Jaq and Joe was a dream from start to finish. They chose my 8-hour package with a second photographer.

We began with a complimentary consultation, followed by a walkthrough of Windy Point Campground a few months before their wedding. I also sent them a detailed wedding planning questionnaire, built out their wedding photo timeline, and coordinated with their vendors to ensure everything would go to plan. On their wedding day, I captured every precious moment and delivered a sneak peek within 24 hours, with the full gallery ready in six weeks.

Below is what they said about their experience!

Kind Words from the Couple

“Incredible does not even begin to describe our experience with Logan and Tyler. It all started with a Zoom call. As I was trying to sort through the never-ending list of great photographers I had put together, Logan suggested we do a Zoom call just to talk things over and see how we vibe. I already knew her work was breathtaking, but boy, was I absolutely shocked at just how amazing Logan was as a person. I talked about her for days to my friends and coworkers, and they all kept asking me, “Why haven’t you just hired her yet, she is obviously your favorite.” They were right, and Logan was honestly the best choice I made on my wedding day… besides the groom, of course!

For months, Logan went above and beyond to help me with my wedding planning, she even met me at Windy Point Campground months before the wedding to scope out photo spots and talk through decor and setup. Oh, did I forget to mention the road to the campground was closed so we had to hike to it. Thanks for taking one for the team, Logan! I think that’s what you must keep in mind when choosing Logan as your photographer, she will be so much more. We never felt like just another bride and groom to Logan. On our wedding day, we met Tyler, Logan’s second shooter. Tyler exceeds all our expectations as well. She fit right into our group and handled the guys with grace as she shot most of their photos! I think she was just what my husband needed in a photographer as we had never done professional photos before. I will end this with, If you cannot have Logan as your photographer, I encourage you to seek out a photographer you can bond with on some level. It really made all the difference.

Thank you so much, Logan and Tyler, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping make our day so perfect.”
